I'm wondering if anyone out there has had any experience using the Sidwell numbers for reporting to a EOC for mapping. Our city has been very aggressive in establishing an emergency communication between them and the Districts (stakes) and precinct (wards). The city uses the ARCGIS program that allows instant mapping when the addresses, in sidwell format, are imported. The city is going to provide the Property numbers to the districts so they can use them for reporting. The Sidwell number is a 10 digit number and only the last 4 digits are equal to the address of the home that is being reported. With this system, after all the default numbers are reported, only the 4 digits are reported instead of a house and street name/number report. Our task at hand now is how we can relay these reports into the City EOC without having to hand off the report from it's original reporting point to rockabilly several people before it is imported into the ARCGIS program. For reference this is a link to GIS maps in the Utah, Salt Lake Valley area. I'm looking forward to hearing from others how others could utilize this system http://slcorecorder.siredocs.com/rechome/GISImages.aspx . It would also be nice to hear if a program like MS access could be programed to take a report of the numbers to import in to the city GIS System.
