The crowd with the big boom boom car audio systems use large capacitors todeliver that needed instant burst of DC voltage when the bass drum hits. MFJpicked up on this idea with their portable adapter made for the ICOM IC-706radio series. That unit is able to run full power SSB off a car lighter socketknowing that the uncompressed speech peaks are a low percentage of the humanvoice. In doing a little online research I found that the rule of thumb in the audioworld is one fared per 1000 watts. Without going out and buying a bunch ofcapacitors, has anyone here messed around with this stuff? I have a 706 wouldlike to use this set up for portable operation and it seems like a great idea, right up until I switch to FM that is.
