Snohomish Washington Stake

I am a new ham and I found a neighboring stake that held a net on Sunday evening.   I am wanting to gather all of the hams in our stake and have a net once a week.  My home teacher is a councilors in the Stake Presidency and is also a ham, and I will be asking him who our Stake Emergency preparations High Councilor is to help me gather all of our stake hams info.  I will also be contacting all of the local hams I know and asking them to spread the word.   I will need to check into the local repeaters to see which one will be best to use and contact the owner and ask for permission to hold a Stake EComm Net.

Your plans sound fantastic. Is your stake large enough you need to use a repeater? If you can handle a net completely serving your stake using simplex that would be the best option. There are many reasons for this but primarily, in an emergency, the repeaters will become a finite resource. They may not remain reliable and if they do will probably be serving a large population. Simplex offers you the flexibility to QSY to a different frequency if your preferred is unusable for whatever reason.

One idea could be to try to get all the hams in the stake who are willing together for an ice cream social / meet and greet to get to know one another. Especially if the stake has a communications specialist with a plan who needs volunteers.
